boring running shoes are great for training because they are direct and cheap.

carbon plate, max stack height, bouncy materials are effective for race day. but on training days, they are not helpful. what’s the point of maximizing comfort during training? the purpose of training is acting in an environment to get signals so that body could adapt and improve. why would one go into a workout with comfortable max-cushion shoes, effectively reducing the training signal? it’s a waste of time.

can’t run that long? shorten the distance. can’t run that fast? take it slow. artificial performance boost is an unnecessary mental crutch.
